I met Erin Davis in downtown Dallas for her senior portrait session. If you’ve followed my photo blog for long, you know that I don’t post a lot of high school senior pictures. Reason being that I got so caught up shooting weddings & music, that seniors fell by the way side. On top of that, I never really desired to deal with the drama and awkwardness that you can find among seniors when you put them in front of the camera as their Mom offers advice. Luckily, Erin is the younger sister of one of my best friends Tyler. I’ve been friends w/ the Davis family for ages, so naturally I was excited about this session! We talked before about ideas and locations, and I made the decision to approach this session with a different perspective than I had in the past. I asked Erin to list a few adjectives that best described her personality: Funny, Corky & Goofy. My goal for the day was to accurately capture Erin’s personality through the camera, and to do so from a unique & creative approach. I didn’t want to just take good pictures by asking her to look & pose as if she were somebody she is not. So we mixed it up, and tried to have as much fun as possible! I had a blast with Erin that day, and I hope she likes these photos as much as I do! I don’t plan to pursue this market in Austin, but who knows? If they could all be this much fun, then I might make some exceptions!
