Vizulium: [Viz-oo-lee-uhm] n. A free, open-source photography content management system in the alpha stage (under development). Did you say free? Yes, free and awesome! Let me tell you about it…
Check it out here: www.vizulium.com
In 2008, my good friend/web designer Jason Leo Durbin and I got together and developed my very first website/blog for my photography. Basically, Jason is a Bad-A and one of the smartest people I know, and he killed it! But because I am such a particular individual, we soon realized that there needed to be a way for me to make changes to the site, without having to email him every time I wanted to upload a new photo. So at first, he created a simple page to add images. Then he added the ability to rearrange, then captions, etc. etc. When he beganĀ developingĀ and maintaing three photography websites, he realized there was a niche and his current platform wasn’t enoguh. So he began Vizulium.
Pretty sweet, eh? You see, Vizulium is similar to WordPress, but it was created specifically to help photographers create an easy and manageable online portfolio. With Vizulium you are able to add/arrange/delete photos, albums, and portfolios; add captions, descriptions, and tags to images: add multiple users to your website; comment on images; create pages; and add/edit themes and plugins.
Here is a video that might explain this amazing resource a little more clearly:
Vizulium is still in the Beta Phase, and looking for Beta Testers. If you are interested, click here.
