This couple deserves an encore.

I took my 5D Mark iii out this morning and played with the in-camera double exposure settings. This was my first shot, and it ended up being my favorite.

Believe it or not, this was my first time to shoot a couple at Zilker park. And because I don’t do repeats, it will also be my last. Glad I made it count with Jeremy & Andrea. They are a really fun couple, and I’m looking forward to shooting their wedding in a few weeks.

This past Friday, I was reading on my front porch when I began thinking about the upcoming weekend. With wedding season just around the corner, I knew it would likely be my last free weekend for a while and I didn’t want to let it go to waste. At the time, I had every intention of spending the weekend in Austin, hanging out with friends and taking care of some things around the house. But for some reason, I was craving a road trip. I needed an adventure. Sure, a relaxing weekend at home would be nice, but nobody remembers ordinary.

The saddest thing about life is you don’t remember half of it. You don’t remember half of half of it. Not even a tiny percentage. And when we look back on our lives, what we will remember are the crazy things we did, the times we worked harder to make a day stand out. So I loaded up the car and headed west to Marfa, TX.

Although my trip was short and sweet, it was exactly what I needed. A creative getaway and a weekend I won’t soon forget.

When I received Megan & David’s initial email about shooting their wedding in Savannah at the Wormsloe Historic Site, I knew we would be friends. The amount of sarcasm and exclamation-marks used in the email kinda tipped me off. And after spending the weekend with their friends & family, I honestly didn’t want to leave. I could spend an hour writing a paragraph trying to describe Megan & David’s awesomeness, but I don’t think it would do them justice. And besides, the photos should tell you all you need to know. But if I had to use one word to describe them, I would say: genuine.

The reception was held at Brockington Hall, deep in the heart of the city. This was my first time to visit Savannah, and it is such an incredible place. With it’s low hanging spanish moss trees, and delicious deep fried food, I’m already working on plans to revisit. My goal this time is to make friends with Paula Deen, and thank her for catering the wedding. Best mashed potatoes ever.
